Sapporo Medical University Library is a library attached to Hokkaido Medical University. Since its foundation in 1950, the library has been developing local medical support service, and it reshuffled the past services and ensured higher quality by initiating operation of library system at the time of opening the new library in June 1999, and by starting a scholarly portal system, "MetaLib/SFX" in July 2002. Users of the new local medical support services spread all over in Hokkaido, and services of the MetaLib/SFX system stimulated new demands for them. Here reported are the local medical support services by Sapporo Medical University Library and introduction of the scholarly portal system, "MetaLib/SFX", and future challenges to be assigned.
