“Hollowing-out removal” of hemangiomas in the tongue using CO₂ laser

Abstract

Some large cavernous hemangiomas of the tongue were removed by hollowing-out approach using CO₂ laser beams. The operative procedure was proved to have the following merits:
1. shortened operation time,
2. decreased blood loss,
3. maintained shape and mobility of the tongue, and
4. preserved tongue senses including taste, pain and so on.
