An ectopic adrenocorticotropic-hormone (ACTH)-producing tumor of the maxillary sinus is described. A 50-year-old man was referred to our department from the department of internal medicine because of an abnormal accumulation in right maxilla on 99mTc scintigraphy. Examination of a biopsy specimen revealed small cell carcinoma (ectopic ACTH producing). After radiation therapy (30 Gy), the patient underwent a partial maxillectomy. Radiation therapy (20 Gy) was performed postoperatively.
No recurrence has been noted as of 2 years 6 month after surgery.
