This article summarizes the contents of a presentation entitled “Research activities of undergraduate students during the 6-year pharmaceutical education curriculum—Perspective of a faculty member of pharmacy in a university integrating medicine, pharmacy and nursing—” in symposium 4 of the 7th Japan Society for Pharmaceutical Education (August, 2022). I am a member of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Osaka Medical and Pharmaceutical University (OMPU), which was established in 2021 through the integration of the Osaka Medical College and Osaka University of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Post this integration, OMPU consisted of three faculties: Medicine, Pharmacy, and Nursing, resulting in greater opportunities among the three faculties for collaborative engagement in education and research. I present my perspective for the necessity to effectively incorporate the research activities of pharmacy undergraduate students in the 6-year pharmaceutical education curriculum into this collaborative environment and describe the interprofessional education and research activities of medical undergraduate students.
