Abstract

If you observe that a design is one of processes of finding the best or a better solution under some design constraints, optimization would become one of the most important parts of the design process to obtain a more sophisticated design. However, for the optimization, we need to set certain mathematical models in advance. But in the process of design, especially in its upper parts, it is difficult to obtain such definite models. Usually, designers carry out such a process by more qualitative grasp and intuitive understanding which were partly based on their experiences. In view of these, we have developed a qualitative optimization method which make it possible to carry out the optimization even with qualitative grasp using the qualitative and the fuzzy reasonings. In order to develop it, we defined qualitative sensitivities. Here, we explain briefly about the proposed qualitative optimization method and focus our attention to state a new approach indicating an optimum solution by using the proposed qualitative sensitivities based on model case base. Model case base is named after that it is just like case base but constructed by the modeled analysis and the name is used here conveniently. We apply the proposed system to multi-objective optimum design problems of a supporting structure of a parabolic antenna and examine the results to find its effectiveness.
