The turbulence in a wind tunnel is usually measured by means of a hot-wire anemometer. But owing to its heat capacity, the high frequency components of the turbulence cannot be measured even with a very fine platinum wire and an electrical compensation network. Therefore for the frequeucy analysis and other accurate measurements, it is desirable to construct a more complete apparetus having better frequency character. For this purpose the authors constructed a new turbulence indicator utilizing a Piezo-electric Rochelle-salt.
In this paper, the properties of the new Rochelle-salt apparatus were investigated, by comparing the wave patterns obtained by the new apparatus with those obtained by the usual hot-wire anemometer. An accurate measurement of the percentage turbulence and the frequency analysis are now in progress at our laboratoty.
