The current correlation method between flight and wind-tunnel buffeting loads is improved and supplemented, great emphasis being put on designroom use. A formula is derived which relates the wing bending moments(rms) in flight to those in wind-tunnel. This formula shows that the wing bending moment is proportional to the free stream dynamic pressure and to cube of the linear dimension; other factors play somewhat minor roles. A formula is derived which shows a relationship between the acceleration on the airplane centerline and the bending moment at the wing root.
