The purpose of this paper is to provide a new discovery of elderly user's thought process. We studied 232 elderly people and 21 younger people based on questionnaire and interviews. In order to gather accurate information for our research, we used aquestionnaire. After doing the questionnaire with each participant, we showed them three versions of a mock interface design that wecreated, which combines television, radio, and alarm clock. Our intention was to analyze the participant's various procedures whenasked to perform any given task on our interface designs. This allowed us to further evaluate the functionality and mental model ofour designs and understand how and why the subjects make certain decisions.
