Abstract
Because of the aging population, the rate of people who show symptoms of gonarthrosis has increased in recent years this group. The proportion of individuals with osteoarthritis is the largest among them. Fibula excision is one method used to treat these symptoms. However, the exact position and quantity of fibula to be excised depend solely upon the doctor’s experience and intuition at the time of operation; at the present time there is no clear way of determining these factors. In view of the possibility of excessive burden on the human body, there is an urgent need to determine the stress distribution state of the periphery of the knee joint after the operation. Thus, using the stress freezing method, we examined this stress distribution state by changing the position and quantity of fibula to be excised. Analyzing the influence of the fibula that is present around the knee joint using this state, it was concluded that the fibula excision method is effective in improving the condition of osteoarthritis.
