This is the fourth report of the project to establish the machining standards for important standardized materials. Here in this paper, the ferritic stainless steel (13-Cr) is treat-ed.
The best carbide grade and tool shape for turning the ferritic stainless steel are selected based upon tool life. The effects of speed, feed and depth of cut are also discussed from the standpoint of tool life. Finally, the table of the machining standard and the fundamental tool-life equations are presented.
