Abstract
A new blind trechine beetle is described from the upper hypogean zone in the northwestern part of Shikoku, Southwest Japan. At first sight, it looks like a member of the genus Ishikawatrechus, but is radically different from it in some essential points, and is considered to form a new genus of its own. The new name Iyotrechus hisamatsui S. UENO et NAITO is given to it in dedication to the late Dr. Sadanari HISAMATSU.
