The Shiseido Female Researcher Science Grant selects and supports 10 future innovators engaged in education and research each year as part of Shiseido’s ongoing contribution to the development of science and technology. This article introducesthe merits and background of this grant, of which more than 40% of its 109 recipients have continued to further advancement. Shiseido has long promoted women’s empowerment; the ratio of female managers in Japan is 32.3% as of January 2019. We actively promote gender equality in our management strategies and as participants in the initiatives of 30% Club Japan, and have undertaken new efforts in empowerment not only for women within the company, but all of society.
