Well defined boundary of discrete tracks and high sensitivity of MR head inspired the authors to propose and investigate a new concept of discrete track servoing wit MR stripe, The feasibility of this scheme has been demonstrated theoretically and experimentally. Because of the remarkable advantages of the ccmpact structure and multi-functions, it may become a promising technique for ultra-high density magnetic recording.
