Abstract

We have developed Light intensity Modulation Direct Over Write (LIMDOW) Magneto Optical (MO) media whose structure gives CNR higher by 2dB than the conventional LIMDOW. In addition, cross-write characteristic has been improved by tuning of magnetic layers parameter. The LIMDOW media with 1.9Gbit/inch2 of recording density is realized by these improvements without using any techniques such as PRML in λ =680nm and NA=0.55.
