This paper clarifies the relationship between the operation characteristic and the nonlinearity of magnetization curves of a nonlinear reactor in an electric power device using experimental and numerical analysis. We proposed a new method of relaxing nonlinearity of the magnetization curves of a nonlinear reactor by the core structure and performed an experiment in which the method was applied to an actual electric power device. The result of this research shows that the method is effective for stabilization of the device and decreasing the distortion of the output waveform.
