Abstract

Background: It is not still definitive if serum triglycerides are residual cardiovascular risk.

Objectives: We aimed to summarize the clinical relevance of targeting serum triglycerides to reduce residual cardiovascular risk based on genetic studies and clinical studies.

Methods: We have summarized large scale genetic studies as well as clinical studies focusing on our objective.

Results: Serum triglycerides appeared to be associated with residual cardiovascular events.

Conclusion: Triglycerides should be targeted to reduce residual cardiovascular risk.
