We evaluated the effect of a new spray-type oral moisturizer containing γ-poly glutamic acid. Twenty-six patients were randomly allocated to experimental and control groups. The experimental group used this new moisturizer;and the control group used sterile distilled water at room temperature. The effect of the moisturizer was investigated by measuring amylase activity using a salivary amylase monitor, oral moisture using MucusⓇ, and stimulated salivary flow values at predetermined times using the Saxon test. There was no significant difference between the groups for both amylase activity and oral moisture. However, stimulated salivary flow values were significantly different, with increased values in the experimental group observed after 30 min of application (p<0.05). The new moisturizer was able to improve the oral environment. (J Osaka Dent Univ 2018; 52: 89-93)
