[Objectives] This study investigated the perspectives of occupational therapists (OTs) regarding sexuality-related support strategies and challenges for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). [Methods] Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 14 OTs working with junior and senior high school students with ASD. Data were analyzed using the KJ method. [Results] The results indicated that sexual issues arise from the “interaction between disability characteristics and the environment,” leading to “conflicts and sense of insufficiency of OTs” and a “desire to avoid troubles.” [Conclusion] The findings suggested that support requires “attention to the nature of sexual matters,” “essential multidisciplinary collaboration,” and a “long-term perspective,” all supported by “preparation for facing” both the individuals with ASD and their support providers.
