Abstract
Local governments make and use a huge amount of geographic information, such as maps. Some of them try to develop Geographic Information System (GIS), to use geographic information easily and effectively. This paper presents a study on use of geographic information and development of GIS at local governments, according to the questionnaires, which were sent out to 517 local governments located in Kyushu area Replies of questionnaires are analyzed by using the cross table method. Through this study, some suggestions to develop GIS at local governments are proposed.
