Urban design activity has many fruits for his quarter century in Yokohama city. In this decade, Conservation and practical use of historical construction have taken a main part of urban design activity. Urban design activity has made many achievements through conservation and practical use of historical constructions, because they have given much impact to the landscape of the city. From now on, in order to create new urban life by making urban landscape more attractive and comfortable, we have to magnify the sphere of urban design activity by promoting collaboration of citizen and administration through conservation and practical use of historical constructions.
