This study aims to clarify the social and special needs of disabled people in local communities. After a brief overview on the previous accessibility-related schemes in Umegaoka, interviews were conducted on the disabled residents of the area. Then, the result of the interviews were examined from three aspects: planning, design, and services and support systems. As a result, the following were made clear: Firstly, it was found that the disabled people possess high awareness on the area's physical inaccessibility, as well as its natural resources, streetscapes, and human environment. Secondly, it was verifier that the accessibility needs lies not only on design aspects of the built environment, but also on planning, service and management systems.
