Abstract
We develop location models for "doctor-helicopter" system in which doctors are delivered to patients by helicopters for primary care. In the system, rendezvous points where helicopters can land and take off are required because helicopters cannot always land directly at the accident place. Then both locations of the doctor-helicopters and the rendezvous points are key factors for the successful treatment of patients. We propose the rendezvous point location model and the doctor-helicopter and rendezvous point location model. In the models two objectives are considered: one is to minimize the average time needed for receiving the care by doctors and the other is to maximize the average survival rate as a logistic function of the time. Our models are applied to analyzing optimal their locations using the actual population and geographical data of Chiba prefecture.
