Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to develop and to verify indicator about regional evaluation based on walkability in residential area. For this purpose, this surveys Ibaraki City in North Osaka Metropolitan Region. The Region want to promote smart shrinking model which satisfy residents' needs to live, even though gradually population decline. As a first step forward smart shrinking, this study develops functional walkability indicator which composed of household density, convenience of regional facilities, road connectivity, and traffic safety. Then, GIS analysis shows that the indicator is available for evaluation walkability of each residential clusters, for example high densely area, sprawl area, suburban area, and public housing area, which categorized urban-factorial-ecological-analysis. Also, questionnaire survey verifies that walkability is useful for regional evaluation of attractiveness and living behavior.
