The input-output analysis is a useful tool to examine the economic structural problems concerning the economic growth, the industrial structure and the environment. The authors have developed a regional input-output model to identify the relationship between the economic structure and the carbon dioxide emission for Japanese regions. In this paper, we have further disaggregated the transport sector into several transport modes to examine the detailed structure of carbon dioxide emission. The empirical study has revealed that the carbon dioxide emissions showed a marked increase in road commodity transport. The intensive measures arenecessary to prevent the emission form interregional trade.
