Abstract

 In this paper, the histories related to the measures against wastewater contamination owing to mining in Ashio are focused on such transition as the recognition of the causes until the fifth order by the government, improvement of the facilities connected by the network to prevent the water pollution, the location and the layout of them, the relation between the ore dressing process that affected to outflow of poisonous water, and the water quality including the comparison of the facilities with the other mines. As a result, the characteristics of the network and the water treatment plants in Ashio are described.
