Abstract
The new method to measure in-cylinder flame propagation and mixture distributions has been developed. These distributions are derived from analyzing the time history of flame spectrum CH* and C2*, which are detected by the spark plug type sensor having multi-optical fibers. The validity was confirmed that the measurement results of this method correspond to the high speed flame visualization and LIF measurement results. Additionally, this method was applied to the analysis of cyclic combustion fluctuation of DI gasoline engine, and the availability was confirmed.
