Abstract
Research on Shredder for chopping roll bales to process mixed feed was carried out. Cutting mechanisms and power requirements of break-up or shredding machines on the market were investigated in the first place. From the investgation, strong appeal was recognized to the machine which can cut roll bales uniformly for the purpose of processing mixed feed, and further diffusion of the machine is expected in near future. We decided to develop a new cutting mechanism which cut roll bales squarly with two kinds of cutters arranged in right angle. The power requirement of the mechanism is expected to be low. We adopted a cutting mechanism after comparative examination on three kinds of blades; disk-blade, running-blade and reciprocating-blade.
