Abstract
In general, grinding fluids are supplied to the contact area between the grinding wheel and workpiece. However, it is difficult to supply grinding fluids in the case of high-speed grinding wheel rotation, as it is shed by the boundary layer around the grinding wheel. The airflow around the flank of a porous grinding wheel and that out from the peripheral surface were examined. The results indicated that the grinding fluid could be supplied from the flank of the grinding wheel. In this study, the behaviour of the grinding fluid when the grinding fluid was supplied from the flank of the grinding wheel was examined by measuring the void fraction near the peripheral surface.
