Based on a model in which the factorial model in the design of experiments was adapted, it has been proposed that means of a population derived from two inbred lines can be described in a generalized form. The model is applicable, in the presence of epistasis, to a population with arbitrary gene frequency and to a genotypic value of any number of loci.
