Transport service for such people's travel demand to hospital and shopping becomes an important policy in rural areas. Taxi fare subsidy scheme have been introduced as a measure to secure mobility of such people in several local governments. This study aims at clarifying the characteristics and problems of a taxi fare subsidy schemes in local governments. By employing interview survey of operators, characteristics of fare subsidy system is compared within cases. Citizen's consciousness for the selection of people to get subsidy and subsidy level are analyzed by the internet questionnaire survey. As a result, taxi fare subsidy scheme for elderlypeople has less amount of payment by government compared with taxi fare subsidy scheme for disabled people. Even citizens want less government's payment for the scheme; they prefer to secure enough mobility of persons in difficult situation.
