In Japan, serious accidents caused by older drivers have become a social problem due to the declining birthrate and aging population. In order to establish a society in which the elderly can live with peace of mind, it is necessary to understand the types of older drivers who experience accidents and near-accidents, and to consider and implement countermeasures. The purpose of this study is to clarify the factors that influence the near-miss experiences of elderly drivers, focusing on cognitive function, confidence in driving, driving attitude, and driving frequency. Specifically, we analyzed the driving frequency questionnaires of those who took a training course for the elderly in Chiba Prefecture between September 2018 and September 2019. The results showed that the cognitive function of older drivers affected their confidence in driving (confident), that their confidence in driving and driving attitude (liking) increased their driving frequency, and that their driving frequency affected their near-miss experience.
