Abstract

Japan entered ong-term depopulation period. For tsunami disaster reduction strategy, both short-term and long-term countermeasures considering depopulation in the expected tsunami area are necessary. In this research, future tsunami disaster strategy was discussed based on the estimation of future depopulation in the tsunami risk area along the Nankai Trough. First, current countermeasures were reviewed. Then, the regions which have both high tsunami risk and high future depopulation ratios were obtained based on the depopulation estimation. It was verified that several cities have high future depopulation ratios compared with the non-tsunami risk area. Finally, ideal strategy considering regional characteristics was proposed.
