Abstract

A double blind controlled study was carried out in 20 patients with essential hypertension to evaluate an effect of medazepam on blood pressures during mirror drawing test performance. Patients were administered orally a tablet of medazepam (5mg) or placebo three times a day for one week. The results were obtained in the following way by the method of analysis of variance for blood pressures.
1) Increasing in blood pressure was significantly alleviated after administration of medazepam in both systolic and diastolic, when compared with that of pre-administration. On the other hand, placebo showed little alleviation.
2) Some differences were found between the two groups in the pattern of fluctuations in diastolic blood pressures during mirror drawing test performance.
