Abstract
It is important for each engineer to learn not only mastering technical items, but also totally designing whole production process. We propose a practical workshop which integrates a sequence of the design process for mechanical control-system engineers. The period of the workshop is shortened from standard one month to three days for busy participants. The workshop consists of modeling a typical mechanical system by the way of experiment, and designing the optimum controller required for the system. Moreover, verification of the design parameters is carried out with experimental equipment.
Many participants have acknowledged the following two points:
1) It is good as the workshop is consistent in design process and production,
2) By doing exercise in both theory and experiment, he or she attains a strong desire to apply the acquired technique to a real design.
These impressions of the participants are just what the workshop is aimed for.
