The purpose of the present study was to identify factors for mentally supporting sports players and to prepare an activity model for supporting stress-coping behaviors. Subjects were 24 female high school basketball players. The study was conducted in July, September, and December 2003 using the POMS, GHQ-12, and SCI questionnaires. From September to December, the players were asked to keep a thought log which was used as a“Cognitive Therapy”tool. Statistical analysis of these logs demonstrated a positive correlation between“Problem-Focused Coping”and“Vigor”.
