A case of convergence nystagmus after head trauma caused by traffic accident is reported and the literature is reviewed.
A 23-year-old man was referred to our clinic for examination of equilibrium disturbance which developed after head traum which had occurred four years earlier.
The definite and characteristic finding in the ENG test was a peculiar nystagmus on convergence gaze. The oculomotor function was seemingly within normal limits.
From the neurootological findings some relatively localized lesion in the upper midbrain which was due to brain-stem concussion, slight bleeding and secondary degeneration was suspected.
