In this study of cross-country skiers, a videotape recorder was used along with 2 cameras and a telemeter for simultaneous EMG leads from f, 8 poles to simultaneously record the EMG and observe behavior in the same picture. The following results-were obtained from analysis. 1. From the upper extremity system, the selected and ordinary players gave marked muscle discharges from the pushing of the stock to the release. However, a sudden decrease of discharge was noted in selected players but not in ordinary players. 2. From the lower extremity systm, a marked discharge was noted at the moment of the thrusting of the ski both in selected and ordinary players. In other phases, the discharge was greater in oreinary players than in selected players. 3. In selected players, concentrated muscle activity was noted but none was seen in ordinary players, also without the relaxed state.
