Abstract

The laser tissue interaction of picosecond lasers are primarily photomechanical. In the treatment of tattoo removal, effectiveness has significantly increased as it falls within the thermal relaxation time. By using an appropriate fluence within the stress relaxation time, it is possible to destroy target tissues selectively via shockwaves. For melanin-related disorders, certain devices now operate within the stress relaxation time, allowing for more selective treatment. However, when only melanosome destruction occurs, issues like recurrence may arise.
