Abstract

A Molectron Laser Coagulator model 8000 was used to irradiate the dorsal surface of the tongue of 10 domestic dogs at the energy of 20 and 50 watts, 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 sec. time. The process of healing of the wounds was observed immediately,1 day, 5 days, 2 and 4 weeks after radiation. Histological studies were done in the above given schedule and was noted that: immediately after radiation no bleeding was observed. The wound was completely covered by epithelium in about 2 weeks after radiation. It was learned by means of this experiment that Nd-YAG laser could be used in oral surgery because it high hemostatic ability. Howerver the process of healing of the wound was observed delayed.
