Abstract
In parallel with the studies on the absorption of histamin and amino acids through the large intestine, the authors performed the studies on the absorption of penicillin through large intestine and obtained the following results.
When penicillin was administered by enema combined with various substances such as glucose, glycocoll, chloral hydrate, taurin, morphine, magnesium sulfate, urethane and“Sprase”*, the absorption of penicillin through the large intestine is remarkably accelerated with the combination of urethane maintaining much higher blood level for much longer duration compared with the combination of other substances.
*“Sprase”is a trade name given to one of the hyaluronidase preparations produced by one of Japanese drug houses.
