From January 1966 to September 1971, 1, 079 Cardioangiographies were performed in the department of surgery of Showa University Hospital. 9 serious complications occured for an incidence of 0.8 per cent.
Of the 6 patient who were examined by the transfemoral retrograde angiography, thromboembolism of the punctured site occured in 5 patients and a fractured guidewire in one patient.
Congestive heart failure and cardiac tamponade occured in another 2 patients during or after the right heart catheterization.
A relatively high incidence of intramural injections of contrast media obsurved in the translumbar angiogaphy.
