The states of stress distribution in mitred bend subjected to in-plane uniform bending moment have been studied systematically by means of photoelastic stress freezing method. The relations between the stress concentration factor of fiber stress σl and of hoop stress σθ near the bent art and the angle of mitred bend are thoroughly investigated. The effects of fillet radius of the bent-part and wall thickness on the stress concentration factors are also discussed.
