Abstract

A method of estimating the pressure of structureborne sound included in noise radiated by an enclosure housing a machine that produces both noise and vibration is proposed. In this method, estimation is carried out using accelerations measured when the machine is in operation and frequency-response functions determined when the machine ceases operation. Specifically, the accelerations are those measured at those points of the enclosure to which the machine is connected, and the frequency-response functions are those determined as complex ratios of the acceleration at the connection points and the sound pressure at the observation points to the exciting forces applied to the connection points from the outside of the enclosure. First the theory of the method is derived ; then its validity is examined through experiments.
