Abstract
Considering the recent earthquake disasters, National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention (NIED) is now constructing a three-demensional full scale earthquake testing facility (E-defense). In order to develop a useful operation and control method for the large sized shaking table. We have proposed an operation and control method for a small shaking table and the method have been tested by the small shaking table. In this paper, the characteristics of the medium scale shaking table with a non-linear structure are identified and tested with the conventional and the adaptive control methods. The efficacy of the adaptive control method is proved by the experiment.
