Abstract
Metal injection molding technique has been developed for fabrication of artificial bones and tooth-root implants, in which hydroxyapatite powders are dispersed uniformly through titanium matrix phase. To gain an insight into the optimal compositional conditions, specimens containing different contents of hydroxyapatite were subjected to the measurements of mechanical properties. Microstructure and compositional analysis of cross-sectional surface were observed under an optical microscope or FE-SEM and EDS, respectively. Biocompatibility of specimens were also examined by culturing the adesive osteoblast.
