Abstract
This paper considers an active wave control of an orthotropic rectangular panel. It is the purpose of this paper to clarify the dynamics of waves that propagate in an orthotropic rectangular panel, and to present the feedforward control methodology of those waves. Firstly, a transfer matrix method for an orthotropic rectangular panel is introduced to describe the wave dynamics of the structure. It is found that an orthotropic rectangular panel has two types of cut-on frequencies. Then, active wave control laws are derived. Finally, from a viewpoint of numerical analyses, basic properties of the proposed method are verified. It is found that the reflected wave absorbing control enables the inactivation of vibration modes, and the transmitted wave eliminating control enables the generation of an almost vibration-free state.
