Abstract
Scenarios are promising for drawing images of manufacturing industry in the sustainable society. Sustainable Society Scenario (3S) Simulator aims to support understanding, describing, and analyzing sustainability scenarios. To realize 3S Simulator, this paper proposes a method for describing structural scenarios by means of ontology. This method clarifies the logical structure of scenarios and facilitates scenario analysis. Examples illustrate that the proposed method clarifies the structure of a sub-scenario for a rational understanding, e.g., articulating rationales used for setting input data of a simulation. Also, what-if analysis by changing simulation assumptions in an original scenario is useful for discussing various futures.
