No matter what the power source is electric battery or IC engine/generator, or fuel cell, etc., the power device for driving directly the tire/wheel of automobiles seems to shift from conventional IC engine to electric motor. In comparison with IC engine, electric motor has the characteristics that its torque response is rapid and we can observe its output torque exactly. Those make it possible to control motor torque easily. In this paper, acceralation control algorithm using those characteristics and how to reduce energy consumption without sacrificing this driveability are shown.
