Abstract

The ventilating facilities in Kanmon Tunnel adopted a transverse ventilation system is renewed in about 40 years because of the aging degradation. At the renewal of the ventilating facilities, the experiment of smoke elimination and 3D simulation was carried out for assessing ventilation wind volume corresponding to fire disaster. At first, to decide the exhaust ventilation wind volume, the various conditions such as the traffic quantity and the fire disaster scenario for the simulation was defined by the characteristics of Kanmon Tunnel. Moreover, the exhaust ventilation wind volume was configured by the ventilating operation and the dimension in case of a fire disaster of the urban tunnel in Europe. Then, the securement of the escape environment was checked by 3D simulation about 15 fire positions using the fire disaster scenario. In the result, the exhaust ventilation wind volume was defined.
