Selective laser melting (SLM) process has advantages in building free shape and simplification of manufacturing process by making near net-shape. SLM process has already applied to produce Ni-base superalloy parts. However, Ni-base superalloys have lower ductility at low temperature, which causes difficulties in fabrication by other process like hot forging. By SLM process, it can make Ni-base superalloy into fine metallurgy microstructure with higher stiffness, which result in to fabricate highly free-shape objects. In this research, the optimum fabrication condition of Inconel 718 superalloy fabricated by SLM process was investigated. The density, microstructure and tensile properties of the as-built alloy were investigated. As a result, the optimum fabrication condition was obtained using the process map. The high density parts were able to be manufactured over the relative density of 99.7% using the optimum fabrication condition. The tensile properties of the specimens were similar to those of the wrought material. However, the density of the alloy fabricated at high scanning speed decreased.
